It may come as a shock to some that Singstar does still exist and has finally birthed a new edition, but let me tell you, the good days are well and truly gone. ![]() Or it could be the fact that I was channelling my repressive gayety through embarrassing impromptu performances like violently swinging the mic and knocking people out, or riding it like a cowboy.Įven when I lived back in South Africa, I can recall crazy moments when Singstar was present, like the time my friend ran through a window and we didn't realise because the song was turned up too loud. Maybe it's because I lived in Howick, East Auckland for a good part of my adolescence and Singstar was set as a point of congregation. Singstar has a special place in my memories somewhere between Buzz and Guitar Hero. Or parties that revolved around the lounge with someone bellowing awful notes into the mic that threatened to break glass panes? Whatever happened to the days when you'd invite your friends around for some beers and at-home Karaoke? ![]()
